dasherDasher for the Pocket PC offers a totally different way of writing with inbuilt intelligent word prediction. Other word prediction software is available for both the Palm and PC platforms.

phoneMobile Speak is ideal software for a user with visual
impairment. When it's installed onto a mobile phone

it converts text into speech. The speech is heard through the phone's internal speaker or headphones. When the phone rings the ID number or name is spoken. Similarly, the battery status, signal strength and PIM functions can be voice activated or heard.

simputer logoA Simputer is a handheld device used in India which reads aloud web pages written in English and converts them into 3 Indian languages - Hindi, Kannada and Tamil. The project was designed to connect rural villages to the Internet through telephone kiosks.

Individuals with cognitive disabilities are often unable to live on their own because of
deficiencies in memory, attention, and executive functionalities. These deficits can create an inability to consistently do normal domestic and work related tasks such as cooking, taking medications, and using public transportation. Computationally enhanced
prompting systems like MAPS can provide a bridge to independence.

Pocket Hal

dolphinlogoPocket Hal is a full screen reader created by Dolphin, for the Pocket PC. A version of PocketHal for Windows Mobile 5 will be available in June 2006.

Dolphin has a product named Dolphin Producer v 1.3 which creates accessible DAISY books from Word documents. The easy conversion from text to MP3 file format allows books to be created and then stored on a conventional MP3 player, an accessible MP3 player like Milestone 311 or a DAISY Reader device like the Telex EzDAISY or Victor Reader Wave.
